Anyway, I created this layout yesterday using this week's sketch (#270) from Creative Scrappers! It's a fun sketch with a project life feel that I just couldn't resist. I used Life is Good from EP and tried not to pull much else. These pictures are from ages ago, my girl is now 11, and every time I pull out these pictures to scrap I get to relive those memories of when she was just a little bitty person....one of my fave things about scrapping! I think it turned out pretty cute! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Oh, sweet summertime!! As an elementary school teacher, the first weeks in June are just pure heaven! No alarm clocks, no lesson plans to write, no papers to grade.....freedom! I have spent a good deal of time this week scrapping and let me tell you it has been great! I created this layout using Sn@p! from Simple Stories. It was so much fun to play with the fun colors and patterns to highlight these cute pics of my sweet little girl! I used a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy (picture of sketch no longer available, sorry). Thanks for stopping by!

Today I have another layout to share. I am still using a pile of scraps that I pulled out when this months mood board from Two Peas came out. I'm really liking the way this is helping me get some pages done. I also used a sketch from Stuck?!. I'm finding awesome sketches and wonderful inspiration over there!
It has been a struggle to find the time and the mojo to get this one completed but I got it done. For this layout, I used a photo my daughter captured of us on her phone one night while we were being silly. I used the March 1st sketch from Stuck?! to get me started as well as this month's mood board from Two Peas. Everything I used either came from my scrap stash or from free printables!!
No, REALLY EXCITED! One of my new years resolutions was to get back to the scrapping that I love. You know, actually working on album pages about My Sweet Girl and our little family. The whole reason I started this scrapping stuff was so that I could preserve every last photo I've taken (and will take) of this child . . . who, at it seems, may be the only one for us. I want her to know just how much she is loved and I never want to forget the emotion and physical feelings of watching her grow. My Sweet Girl is 11. I have 1 album for her complete (year 1). I have two more albums that aren't complete but are full. But, she's 11 . . . I am no where near 'caught up.' And that's okay because while I'm dealing with 11 year old 'tudes and issues I get to go back to chubby little legs and gooey kisses through my scrapping. I'm really, really excited! So I have another layout today. This one is inspired by a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy. I'm also using the February mood board from Two Peas as inspiration to use up the paper I have since the budget doesn't allow me to get new goodies very often . . . well, like ever really. Anyway, here it is. A sweet picture of My Sweet Girl and the kitty sitting in My Sweet Girl's car seat. She loved that darn thing!
Ha! It has been a while since I've completed a layout for myself and my albums! I've been really busy creating cards, and "naked" layouts to sell that I've gotten away from my true love...sharing memories with scrapbooking!
I have a whole stash of photos (like 5 years worth!!! LOL!) already organized for scrapping. I just needed some inspiration. So I went blog hopping, of course! It didn't take long to find just the inspiration I needed. In fact, I found quite a bit. I decided to go with these two challenges to get my mojo going.

First, I chose the SWAK challenge from Scrap Our Stash to use S-stitching W-washi A-arrows K-kraft. Then I chose this awesome sketch from Stuck?! I think the resulting layout turned out great. However, I have no issues with mixed media itself and have begun to play around with it a bit. I've created a couple of pieces for my art journal before deciding that, yes, I do enjoy playing around with this stuff! So, I decided to alter a binder to be the home of my playings...an art journal I suppose. I'm quite happy with the way it turned out and just love the color combo (my faves). I love the endless possibilities with mixed media. I love to watch other people create mixed media pieces. I, myself, have played a touch with mixed media. However, my scrapbooking style is nothing like mixed media! When I look at layouts that are created mixed media style, I am not so in love. Do not misunderstand, they are BEAUTIFUL pieces of art! What I find unpleasing, I suppose, is the quarrel between the ART and the PHOTOS! I've only seen a couple of artist who are trully able to scrap mixed media style and still keep the focus on the photos. Isn't that what scrapbooking is about after all?
As I begin my journey into the world of mixed media art, I can not, at this point see myself as a mixed media scrapper. More likely I will be a mixed media journal-er (hmmm, is that a word?). I've already designated a neat little book to work on my mixed media techniques.....separate from my photo albums.
Am I the only one who feels this way? It was just this past spring that I discovered that I had a steady enough hand to paint lettering....since then I've been painting letters all over the place. Here is the fruit of tedious labor...
I created this layout using an old paper stack from We R Memory Keepers. I used this month's sketch from Scrap That! to get it done!

I love, love, love these bright colors and fun patterns. I fussy cut most of the flower embelishments with a few from my stash.
Happy Birthday, America!

I used this sketch from Sketches in Thyme (#115) to create this patriotic 2-page layout! The paper is from the Paper Studio. I created the circle/star embellishments with scraps of paper and stitching. I used washi tape, stickers from DoodleBug Designs and Recollections bling to add to my embelli clusters. The candy cane paper clip is from Smash!

Hello! I wanted to stop in and share what I've been creating lately. I work in a school that currently has 5 babies under the age of 1 and two more on the way. Needless to say, I've had lots of motivation to create this cute little baby album. I used a plain $1 photo album as the base for this mini. The paper is from DCWV Baby Boy stack with kraft card stock. The pages are really interactive and have hidden pockets and lots of room to add photos or other little bits of memorabilia. This paper stack is just adorable and so far I have been able to create this mini, another mini (which I will showcase another day) and I still have plenty left for a few layouts and cards! Thanks for stopping by!

Today I finished some 3x3 cards! I got 24 cards made using 4 pieces of card stock and a stash of black and white scraps!

During the last year, I've created an album for my mom, created many 'naked' layouts, and lots of other paper projects....but none for myself. So I went through my photos and found this single photo of my daughter from several years ago and decided to create a layout for myself.....it was nice!

The Dear Lizzy Neopolitan collection was a perfect fit for this picture. The layout was inspired by a Creative Scrappers Sketch (Sketch #241). I knew I wanted the title to be something about dreaming big, or reach for the stars or something like that. Then Scrap That Chat bog came out with a challenge to use song lyrics. The title "Don't You Worry Child, Heaven's Got a Plan for You" is lyrics from the Swedish House Mafia Song "Don't You Worry Child." I think the song is beautiful and thought it matched the mood of this layout!

I have truly enjoyed being at home with my family this holiday season! Today is my last day before heading back to work and I plan on spending a good deal of the day creating! Here is a card I created this morning using a sketch from catchthebugblog.blogspot.com. It's a fun sketch that inspired me to create my own chevron pattern.

The chevron is not perfect...but I think it's pretty cute on this card. The image is from fresh brewed designs...an old image that I'm not sure is even still available. The patterned paper came from a Paper Studio stack. This card also fits in with these challenges:
I've been creating away! Here's a layout I created using a couple of challenges.

All of these lovely papers came from the same Recollections stack with the addition of some white cardstock! I used my Slice to cut the title, trees, and the deer. This layout fits in the following challenges:

It is because of her that I felt a real need to get back on the blog. I haven't posted anything on the blog since 2011 when our house was heavily damaged by a tornado. Well, we've been back home for over a year now! I have been crafting away....just not posting. So anyway, here are some things that I've been working on this past month. And Mrs. Joyce, thanks for motivating me to post! It's so fun to meet people who are just as crazy about paper as me!
I hope to continue posting as I create! I'd love to hear from you....so leave a comment!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8803130282542866559.post-91419954732192607832011-07-30T10:05:00.000-07:002011-07-30T10:05:36.557-07:00So, that's why!!!So, I've noticed that there have been visitors to my blog and I am sure that you all are wondering if I've given up my crafting or if I've simply dropped off the face of the earth. Well, neither actually. Our city (Tuscaloosa, AL) and our home were destroyed by the tornado outbreak on April 27, 2011. Now, 3 months later, we are still surviving in an RV.

We have about 6-8 more weeks until our home repairs are complete and we can move back into our home. I am very excited about the changes that we've been able to make to our home, especially the addition of our art room that will house all of my families crafts. It has been an experience to say the least, but we are so very blessed and grateful to our friends and family who have been an invaluable support since the storm.
I have been lurking on the blogs for a couple of weeks now....getting inspired to create though my supplies are packed in a box somewhere in a storage room!!! I've picked up a few things so I hope to get to put some things together soon.
For those of you who continue to stop by and check my blog....thanks for hanging around! It means a lot!
It is a lovely morning here in Alabama and I am gearing up for a busy day. But, before I hit the ground running, I want to share this weeks Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Challenge!

This week at Stamp, Scrap and Doodle the challenge is Clean and Simple (CAS)! We have a great prize up for grabs from Glitz Designs! We'd love to have you join in the fun!

For my CAS creation, I created a little envelope goodie bag.

To create this little goodie bag, I started with a regular A2 envelope. I embossed the envelope with my Cuttlebug and used my Treading Water border punch on one side. I tied it with ribbon and created the little handle with coordinating ribbon. The image is a stamp in front of a scallop circle I cut using Spellbinders die. I added a little paper grass and DONE! If you'd like to see a tutorial of how to create this goodie bag, click HERE.

Come on over and create something with us this week at Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle! We'd love to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by!
I am so glad the weekend is finally here! It has been a busy two weeks at school filled with high stakes testing that brings lots of stress and tension among teachers and kids. I look forward to the day when schools, and more importantly children, aren't judged by their ability to perform on any one test on any one day! I seriously doubt that will ever happen in my lifetime....but a teacher can dream can't she?!?!

This week at Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturday, the design team challenges you to get your BLING on! That's right, all things that glitter, sparkle, and shine are welcome! You should definitely check out what the design team came up with ~ some amazing creations!

Here's my card for this week's challenge.

I started out with brown cardstock and some beautiful, glittery patterned paper from the Paper Studio. I used my scallop circle die to make my butterfly really pop. I used my Slice to cut the butterfly out of DCWV glitter paper and then accented it with lots of bling! The sentiment is a stamp ~ I don't know where it came from!

We'd love to see what you come up with, so get your BLING on and link up!
Do you ever feel like there are just not enough hours in the day.....all week!?!?! I have definitely felt that way this week. There were so many things that I've wanted to accomplish and I am sad to say that my to-do list is not to-done.

Anyway, I was able to spend a very small amount of time crafting this week to create my DT card for this week's challenge at Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Saturday. This week we are challenging you to use this photo as inspiration.

What is it about this picture that inspires you? Is it the peach, pink and purply colors? Is it the butterfly? Is it the tea pot? The fabulous rose?

I was inspired by both the colors and that fabulous rose! I thought it was a perfect opportunity to create a ribbon rose for my card! I began with a deep plum cardstock (CM) and gorgeous patterned paper from My Mind's Eye. I used my Spellbinders scallop die for the background of my ribbon rose. A stamp set from Martha came in handy for the leaves which I stamped then cut out. The sentiment is a rub-on from Kaiser. I was really happy with the way this turned out and am looking forward to using this patterned paper and ribbon rose again on a page layout (if I get some crafty time in!).

Regina has an Autumn Leaves stamp set up for grabs for the winner of this week's challenge. So, get inspired and CREATE! We'd love to see how the photo inspires you so hop on over and join us this week at SSDS!
I have really enjoyed the past week ~ it's Spring Break here for us! I didn't get at much crafting done as I thought I might but I did get to spend oodles of fun times with my DD, and I even got a little spring cleaning done (keyword ~ little)!

We just loved to see all the participation last week with our "Spring Has Sprung" challenge! Over 100 entries of beautiful spring goodness! We do hope that you will join us again this week. This week's challenge at SSDS is to use numbers, any way any how!

I decided to try this tri-fold card that I saw a video for on Youtube from SCS. It was super easy and I can definitely tell you that I will be making many more of these!

I started with the polka dot paper that was in my stash....I have no idea where it came from....it's pretty old. I used Royal Blue cardstock (CM) for the base and square scallop. The sentiment and cupcake stamp are both $1 stamps from Micheal's. I colored the cupcake with copics and added a tag for the number. I used a CM sticker for the number and popped it up with dimensionals and attached it to the card with a brad. I love the way it turned out....cute and simple...perfect for a child's birthday. The inside has a place to put a little note, some money or a gift card.

We do love looking at all of your wonderful creations, so be sure to join us this week at SSDS!
This week we've got a sketch to share with you. I don't know about you but I find sketch challenges to be the easiest ones! And an easy idea makes for more cards in my box when I need 'em! Here's the sketch:
