I am really excited! No, REALLY EXCITED! One of my new years resolutions was to get back to the scrapping that I love. You know, actually working on album pages about My Sweet Girl and our little family. The whole reason I started this scrapping stuff was so that I could preserve every last photo I've taken (and will take) of this child . . . who, at it seems, may be the only one for us. I want her to know just how much she is loved and I never want to forget the emotion and physical feelings of watching her grow. My Sweet Girl is 11. I have 1 album for her complete (year 1). I have two more albums that aren't complete but are full. But, she's 11 . . . I am no where near 'caught up.' And that's okay because while I'm dealing with 11 year old 'tudes and issues I get to go back to chubby little legs and gooey kisses through my scrapping. I'm really, really excited! So I have another layout today. This one is inspired by a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy. I'm also using the February mood board from Two Peas as inspiration to use up the paper I have since the budget doesn't allow me to get new goodies very often . . . well, like ever really. Anyway, here it is. A sweet picture of My Sweet Girl and the kitty sitting in My Sweet Girl's car seat. She loved that darn thing!

What's Cooking?
Today I actually have a REAL LIFE, WITH PICTURES, LAYOUT to share! Ha! It has been a while since I've completed a layout for myself and my albums! I've been really busy creating cards, and "naked" layouts to sell that I've gotten away from my true love...sharing memories with scrapbooking!
I have a whole stash of photos (like 5 years worth!!! LOL!) already organized for scrapping. I just needed some inspiration. So I went blog hopping, of course! It didn't take long to find just the inspiration I needed. In fact, I found quite a bit. I decided to go with these two challenges to get my mojo going.

First, I chose the SWAK challenge from Scrap Our Stash to use S-stitching W-washi A-arrows K-kraft. Then I chose this awesome sketch from Stuck?! I think the resulting layout turned out great. I know it felt wonderful to create a layout from start to finish....with pictures AND journaling! Thanks to SOS and Stuck?! for inspiring me this weekend!

Mixed Media Art Journal Cover
As I stated in a previous post, I have some issues with mixed media being used for scrapbooking layouts. However, I have no issues with mixed media itself and have begun to play around with it a bit. I've created a couple of pieces for my art journal before deciding that, yes, I do enjoy playing around with this stuff! So, I decided to alter a binder to be the home of my playings...an art journal I suppose. I'm quite happy with the way it turned out and just love the color combo (my faves). Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media?
I LOVE the look of mixed media! I love the endless possibilities with mixed media. I love to watch other people create mixed media pieces. I, myself, have played a touch with mixed media. However, my scrapbooking style is nothing like mixed media! When I look at layouts that are created mixed media style, I am not so in love. Do not misunderstand, they are BEAUTIFUL pieces of art! What I find unpleasing, I suppose, is the quarrel between the ART and the PHOTOS! I've only seen a couple of artist who are trully able to scrap mixed media style and still keep the focus on the photos. Isn't that what scrapbooking is about after all?
As I begin my journey into the world of mixed media art, I can not, at this point see myself as a mixed media scrapper. More likely I will be a mixed media journal-er (hmmm, is that a word?). I've already designated a neat little book to work on my mixed media techniques.....separate from my photo albums.
Am I the only one who feels this way?
